**A multicultural new adult romance from bestselling author, J.J. McAvoy**
Eli thinks he’s found the perfect woman to be his wife. She’s a doctor, like he is. She’s brilliant, like he is. And she’s wealthy, like he is.
Gwen thinks her fiancé is the perfect man. He’s handsome, successful and he was her first…
But when Eli’s bride runs off with Gwen’s fiancée on his wedding day, they are left to pick up the broken pieces of each other...
“People are sometimes unlucky in love, but I’d rather be unlucky a dozen more times than close myself off and never have the chance to have that with someone.”
When i first saw the description of this book i said to myself that i have to read it,so when i finally got the chance to request it on Netgalley ,i hoped that my request will be accepted because i really ,really wanted to read this book. And here i am now writing my review after reading this book ASAP like a crazy person, because (honestly!!) it was pretty much how i expected it to be:Awesome and perfectly imperfect.Don't ask why, just read the damn book!
Being an artist,Guinevere Poe's life isn't simple at all. It's full of life and colours, but her life is turned upside down when her fiance decided to run away with another woman. And that's they day when Gwen realizez that everything can change in a blink of an eye,but that doesn't mean she has to.
Eli Davenport never thought that something so horrible could happen to him.Being left at the altar wasn't something he saw in his future, but the bride had different plans and that changed everything for him.But not only for him.
''Pefectly imperfect, and the more you look at her the more confused you become but even still you can't look away.''
So,how two people, whose fiances left them in the same day, could recover from something like that without reacting in some way?
First,i have to admit that i loooved how Eli and Gwen reacted to each other, the conversation between them were hilarious, especially at the beginning when they were acting like they didn't stand each other. It made me laugh so much because it was obvious that that won't last long and they were really cute.
I loved Gwen's weird way of be,She was smart, beautiful and very talented, but her attitude was weird and that's what i liked the most about her.She wasn't acting like she deserved the moon and the sun because she was famous. Not at all.I loved her weird sense of humour and ,of course,Taigi(her dog).
And Eli?When it comes to Eli i admit that i wanted to shake some sense in him, because at the beginning he was acting like he knew everything about Gwen and he was awfull to her,but step by step i started to change my opinion about him.And..When i finally started to read about the real Eli?Well, damn!,he wasn't bad at all.Charming, handsome and really sexy,Eli Davenport managed to change my opinion about him really fast.
''You,Guinevere Aurora Poe,are the most beautiful woman in the world to me.Let me say it.You should hear it.''
This book wasn't perfect, but it had so many amazing scenes and it made me realize that somehow this book managed to show us what happens in reality :when two people fell in love without thinking, two people being left by those who they thought will be with them forever,a doctor who tries every day to save everyones life or a womans love for art. It's not the perfect combination, but it makes you think about a lot of things.
It had a lot of hilarious moments and i can say that i needed that .From the beginning this book was interesting in a lot of ways. The chemistry between Eli and Gwen was obvious, but it was fun reading about the way they were acting at first-always trying to show each other that they had nothing in common and that they didn't stand each other.Fun!I swear. And i loved it.Why?Because in the end it was worth every single word.
“The one thing I love about us, Guinevere, is that we talk, we laugh, we tease each other, we laugh more, and we drink. Before being my girlfriend, you were my friend; I love that.”
Perfectly imperfect-the right way to describe this story, because everything started with a beautiful day ruined, twisting and turning until it transformed into something beautiful and life changing for the main characters of this book.
