Review: Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for four years and then be granted her freedom. Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she's bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it's the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

Review:

''I am Celaena Sardothien,Adarlan's Assassin. If these men knew who i was, they'd stop laughing.I am Celaena Sardothien.I am going to win.I will not be afraid.''

After reading a few reviews about this book,i decided that i had to give it another try.The first time when i've read this ,i admit that i wasn't impressed and i thought that it was ok,but that was because i'm not a big fan of books written in 3rd person point of view.Actually, there were a few books that i liked, but when i started Throne of Glass i was a little bit frustrated,Then..

Now?After reading this book again?Well,my opinion changed completely and i loved the book!
Yeah, well, call me a hypocrite if you want, but i can change my opinion how many times i want, right? And right now?I'm really ,really impressed and really, really happy ,Well, who wouldn't be?

I still can't believe how some things happened and i'm still waiting for something to happen, even if i finished the book and right now i am writing the review.Crazy, right? *sigh*

From the moment i started reading this book i wanted to know more about everything-about Celaena,Dorian,Chaol and the rest.I mean,it had an interesting start and i was completely captivated until the end of the book!
Honestly, even if this was the second time ,there were a few times when i didn't want to go to sleep ,so i could continue reading . Haha!Well...

I never thought that reading about an assassin could make me want more and more, but somehow reading about Celaena's life and everything she had to do in this book made me realize that it was an fantastic adventure and i can't wait to read more!

Yeah, there were times when i wished that Celaena wasn't an assassin ,that her life could be simple and happy, but ,well,i wouldn't change anything. It was amazing!

I loved Celaena. Her attitude, even if she knew she was in the hands of the enemy, was absolutely fantastic.I mean, she was baddass and all the jazz, but i saw her for what she was.A girl fighting for her life-a lonely girl whose life was full of ups and downs;a girl who had to do anything she could in order to survive. But being an assassin doesn't mean she wasn't human.
There were so many moments when i saw her fear and how fragille she was behind her mask. But the warrior within her was the best. She made me laugh so many times, but the truth was that she made me realize that in life you have to be strong and that you have to do anything you can to survive.

''My name is Celaena Sardothien''she whispered.''But it makes no difference if my name's Celaena or Lillian or Bitch, because i'd still beat you,no matther what you call me.''

Honestly,i enjoyed reading about her fights-how she was training with Chaol or with the Champions. She was fierce and determined to win ,to become the King's Champion.Even if the main reason was something else-her freedom.

What made me enjoy this book more was the way Celaena managed to win Chaol and Dorian's trust, even if they didn't want.Or how she befriended Nehemia.Yet she never tried to hard to do does things.

“With each day he felt the barriers melting. He let them melt. Because of her genuine laugh, because he caught her one afternoon sleeping with her face in the middle of a book, because he knew that she would win.”

Oh my...At first i hated Chaol a little.I mean,c'mon! He was a little so harsh and i wanted to shake some sense in him,but now?I kind of love him.Yay!He managed to win my heart just by trying to help Celaena win the competition, just by believing in her..But!He had a few moments when i saw something in him -something that i can't explain. He was too serious for his age,but being the Captain of the Guards i understand why he was like that.It is wrong that i find him charming?Hell no.And i'll always admit that!Proud.

“I'm not married," he said softly, "because I can't stomach the idea of marrying a woman inferior to me in mind and spirit. It would mean the death of my soul.”

Dorian? My first reaction:'' Seriously? What's wrong with this guy!Yeah,i understand he was the prince, but c'mon!''.Now,he has a piece of my heart, even if ,like with Chaol,i wanted to shake some sense in him.Don't ask why..You don't need to know the reasons.
Slowly,i started to understand him and his actions.I started to realize that he wasn't like the King and that i had to give him a chance .And it was worth it!Charming and handsome,Prince Dorian managed to make me swoon.

But!My loyality still belongs to Chaol.

Honestly,i hoped that i won't find a love triangle here..But it seems that i can't get rid of that!In this book it wasn't so bad, meaning it was something that i could ignore ,a little.
I enjoyed reading about Chaol and Dorian's friendship and how they were responding to Celaena. At times it was really amusing, because i had too much fun reading about how they acted in Celaena's pressence.

''I name you Elentiya." She kissed the assassin's brow. "I give you this name to use with honour, to use when other names grow too heavy. I name you Elentiya, 'Spirit That Could Not Be Broken.”

Nehemia. She had won my trust from the first time i started reading about her.Friend and ally,Nehemia was there when Celaena needed her the most, even if Nehemia didn't knew who she was.She was a fierce warrior and a true princess.Kind and special, but she had her secrets.
Despite those lies,i knew that Nehemia was someone who  i will like eventually. And i wasn't wrong.

It was fun reading about everything! But ,those test were the ones that made me understand completely how strong Celaena was.
The story was incredible.Between those test and Celaena's battle for her freedom,i loved that there was magic involved.Dark and Light. Those are the main reason why i couldn't put this book down!

''Light and Darkness.Life and death.Where do i fit in?''

I'm not sure how to explain what i feel about the King.He was a misterious one and i honestly admit that i'm afraid of what i will read in the next book.Dangerous ,dark and a little bit mad. That's how i saw him.And i hated him with all my heart.

The rest of the characters were interesting enough. There were a few that i hated(like Kaltin and the duke Perrington-horrible,horrible people!),but the rest weren't so bad.
Step by step i got the chance to explore more of Celaena's story. It was full of ups and downs.Full of surprises and i know now that even if she was the King's Champion ,her future will be full of many, many adventures, both good and bad.

Darkness and light, who would have thought that this book will be full of surprises? And i'm thrilled to announce that Elena's appearance was the best thing that could have happen to Celaena. At least, that's my opinion.

''You could rattle the stars,''she whispered.''You could do anything,if you only dared. And deep down, you know it ,too. That's what scares you most.''

Well,this is where i stop.This book was not how i thought it was.Well,first impression wasn't bad,but now?My short opinion: Badass and Epic!Brilliant.

Review:

“But true rulers are not born. We are made.”

I still remember the day when i first read something written by Marie-i was thrilled to read something new written by an new author. And it was worth it.
Right now, after i’ve read The Rose Society i’m still trying to process everything that happened and i admit that i feel like i want to shout out loud that i can’t believe how everything happened.
How?Why?When?
Those are the question i asked myself every single time when something happened and i couldn’t understand it.Yikes.

Sometimes i tried –Eh,well,i guess i’m still not used to the idea that Adelina’s life turned upside down in a way that it made me believe that her purpose in this book was to become a villan.I can’t accept that. Not after everything she has been through.I can’t and i won’t accept that.

A lot of things happened and like i said above ,i’m still trying to process everything. And it’s a lot to process.Too many things happened-between Adelina trying to get her revenge and what the Daggers were planning,i got the chance to read about two new Young Elites ,Magiano and Sergio. And i’m trilled to announce the fact that the way Violetta managed to use her powers made me jump up and down. Why?Because i’m glad that after everything,Adelina still had someone beside her,her own blood-her sister. But ,well,i..The end of thise book changes everything.

“Someday, when I am nothing but dust and wind, what tale will they tell about me? Once upon a time, a girl had a father, a prince, a society of friends. Then they betrayed her, and she destroyed them all.”

Reading about everyone made me think that maybe a miracle will happen. After all,The Daggers made me believe that Adelina could have a place among them, but after reading everything that happened in this book i don’t know what to believe anymore.

I didn’t like to read about how Adelina had to fight the Daggers, but i guess,it had to happen.Even if that fight distroyed every hope i had for them to be reunited again.
But i’m still shocked about Enzo.Don’t get me wrong,i’m glad and holy hell,i’m honestly happy, but the way everything turned up it wasn’t exactly how i expected.

“We are drawn to stories,” he says in a soft voice, “and every scar carries one.”

The new characters.Mmm.My favorite was Magiano-he was exactly what Adelina needed-hope and light in a time of darkness.I liked him ,even if sometimes i doubted that he wanted to help Adelina, but that doubt vanished when he protected Adelina so many times.
About Sergio i can’t write a lot ,because after all he helped Adelina and Violetta when they needed. And he showed them where his loyality belonged to.

I’m surprised that so many things happened. It was a pleasure to read about how strong Adelina was and how her illusions worked.Even if everything was about revenge, there were moments when i saw Adelina exactly like she was-a sad little girl, fragille and lost, looking for revenge, but what she  was really looking for was  approval. All her life she was rejected and tortured because she was a mallfetto-and now she was determined to show everyone that she was strong enough to stop that.

But life isn’t fair and not everyone gets what they deserve,do they?

Review:Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard.

This is a world divided by blood – red or silver.

The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change.

That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.

Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.

But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance – Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart ...

Review:

“In the fairy tales, the poor girl smiles when she becomes a princess. Right now, I don't know if I'll ever smile again.”

Recently i wanted to read something new and it seems like every time i look for something different i get what i want.

Red Queen made me wish that every single dystopian book could make me feel like i can't stop reading or that i'll end up speechless and wanting more.Honestly,i read a couple of books like this one ,i mean dystopian books that left me speechless and the reason why i fell in love with dystopia genre, (Divergent,Delirium,The Selection and etc)and that's why i keep trying to find more and more. But,unefortunely, books like The Red Queen are hard to find.
The story was unique and amazing. The characters were badass and  unique in every single way.
But..I admit that i didn't fell in love because it was a dystopian story..Nu-huh..I fell in love with the way everything is written and the fact that the author did everything she could to write something unique.

The first that i saw before i read the description was the cover,it made me curious and i thought that with a cover like this one i must read the description. And i did that...Now?I'm really glad.
Usually ,when i find a book that i want to read ,i read a few reviews first ,but in this case i didn't do that.
In this case i did something like : Read the book first and than read reviews later. *sigh*
I'm glad that i did that.

My honest opinion?
Well, everyone should read this book, esspecially those who love to read this kind of books.

Why?

Because the book was mindblowing, full of surprises ,lies ,huge secrets, betrayal and the main ingredient :Love.

“A lie will raise me up, and one day another lie will bring me down.”

A few words about the story.
In this book there are two type of people: those with red blood and those with silver blood. Two type of human beings who are different and they'll never stop hating each other.
Those with Silver blood are the powerfull ones, meanwhile those with the Red blood are the weak ones..But everything changes  with one girl..
This story is about a girl who discovers the truth about her real powers, but at the same time she ends up in the middle of the war.Her life doesn't belong to her.Everything transforms into a lie.

“I'm a Red girl in a sea of Silvers and I can't afford to feel sorry for anyone, least of all the son of a snake.

About the characters..

Mare- oh my,i love it when i get the chance to read about an character like her. Yes,she was too easy to fool at first, but i loved it when she got the chance to show them how powerfull she was. Who would have thought that in the end the girl ,who did everything they wanted , was the one who showed them that everything could change in a second? Loooved it!.

“Cal and Maven are deadly creatures, soldiers. But their battle isn't just on the lines. It's here, in a palace, on the broadcasts, in the heart of every person they rule. They will rule, not just by right of a crown, but by might. Strength and power. It's all the Silvers respect, and it's all it takes to keep the rest of us slaves.”

Cal- um, fool me once ,shame on you;fool me twice ,shame on me. He was my favorite, but i swear that i wanted to shake some sens in him. Seriously, he was really blind, but i guess what really matters is the way the book ended. But...Like in every book the prince always has a free ride in the huge rollercoaster of up and downs until he finally opens his eyes and sees the true.Honestly,i still liked him ,despite every single mistake he made.

Maven- ugh,i'm not sure what to say about this character. I suspected at the beginning that something was really strange about this guy, but step by step i started to forget about my suspicions and i started liking him. I mean, c'mon, he was sweet and he obviously wanted to help Mare..Mmm.You know what they say about the quiet and shy people, right? You never know what they are planning.

Queen Elara - i don't have good things to say about that evil queen ,so i'll try to keep it simple. She wanted something bad to happen, but she never thought that something huge will happen.

The King - like father ,like son. I mean, both were blind and never saw what the Queen was planning. One paid the price and one had to run. Simple as that.

Kilorn- from the beginning i thought that maybe he'll be the one to save the day. He had a huge part in everything, but somehow i wished that something more to happen. I liked that he cared about Mare and he did some things that made me like him even more..

''Part of me wishes I could submit to chains, to captivity and silence. But I have lived that life already, in the mud, in the shadows, in a cell, in a silk dress. I will never submit again. I will never stop fighting.''

After everything that happened, the end left me speechles. I mean not only the end, the last chapters were crazy and full of surprises. Many secrets were revealed and many things happened at once.

There were a lot of characters i liked ,also there were a few i disliked. Like in every book there was a balance between the bad ones and the good ones.
That balance made everything perfect, even if i wanted some things to happen different.
The story, from my point of view, was perfect and amazing. Full of surprises and badass characters.
But what made it so special was the fact that it was Unique..

Maybe i didn't write a lot about what happened in the book, but you have to understand that sometimes(every time) when i write an review i tend to write too many spoilers..So,i hope you understand what i wanted to write about the book.

Review :Hawthorne &Heathcliff by R.K Ryals.

Two names that didn't belong to us. Two shoes that did.

Intense and introspective, seventeen-year-old Hawthorne Macy knows all about being abandoned. She's felt the stark pain of being left behind by the people who are supposed to love her the most; her parents. Raised by her caring uncle on an old plantation, Hawthorne lives her life on the fringes of her small Southern town.

Until she meets his shoe.

Senior year, last period English class, and a pair of silent tennis shoes resting next to hers in the back of the room throws Hawthorne into a world she'd learned to stay outside of.

His name is Max Vincent, but in her mind, he’s Heathcliff. The handsome eighteen-year-old boy behind the shoes will pull Hawthorne into a passionate and unforgettable adventure of self-discovery during a time when love seems impossible.

Shoes can tell a lot about a person. The journey they take you on can tell a lot about how they'll hold up.

Review:

“It’s strange how life works, son. We tend to put things off when we know we have plenty of time to do them. Then when there isn’t much time left, we start to realize what we should have already done.”

You want to know the real reason why i love ?Well,my answer:because i love to lose myself in beautiful ,hard and mindblowing stories.Stories that make me believe that everything is possible in life.
Hawthrone &Heathcliff –i admit that i didn’t know what to expect when i started reading this book, but i’m really happy that i didn’t skip it again.I loved the stories ,even if at some point i couldn’t understand why so many bad things happened and how-seriously,my heart couldn’t keep up with soo much pain. How Hawthorne managed to move on ,that was a real miracle.
The story was really beautiful and i loved how everything changed step by step.Yes,it was full of sad moments, but there were so many beautiful moments and those moments made everything better.
And,this might not make any sense, but how everything started, that was really brilliant, even if that involved Max’s shoes.Brilliant and unique!

''There's this thing love stories always forget to mention. That love isn't a constant thing.Sometimes it changes, other times it fades completely.Sometimes you have to fall in love twice to truly understand it. ''

Hawthorne-the strenght that girl had in every chapter made me envy her. After everything she had lost, she never gave up.I loved her mind-the way she was thinking and all those freaking philosophical thoughts she had every single time something happened.Sometimes, yeah,i thought she was weird, but weird in a good way.

Heathcliff-despite the weird introduction and how everything started,i admit that i liked him from the beginning, but i was a little dissapointed. But,it seems that i had to learn more and more about him, cause after all he was a mystery for me.

This story was mostly about everything you can lose in life and it showed me that, when everything is hard you can find the strenght you need to move on.You can lean on those who love you and that you have to start trusting them to help you.

“Rough rides are smoother when you’ve got a passenger who understands the road.”

Hawthorne and Heathcliff saved each other, even if their story was full of ups and downs. She was the girl who lost her family, and he was the lost soul who needed freedom in order for him to understand that all he ever needed was her.Um,yeah,i know that this sounds crazy, but thats how i see it.

I loved the story. It was beautiful and at the same time crazy.
