Review: Emancipating Andie by Priscilla Glenn

Ever since the one time Andie Weber threw caution to the wind - and paid the price for it - she’s learned that it’s safer and smarter to live life playing by the rules. Now she’s got a great apartment, a steady job, and a wonderful boyfriend in Colin; he’s sweet, stable, and essentially perfect – except maybe for the fact that his best friend is Chase.

Chase McGuire lives his carefree, unstructured life strictly for himself. Dripping sarcasm and oozing wit, he refuses to censor his feelings or opinions for anyone, making no apologies for either and wearing his abrasiveness like a badge of honor. No one has ever gotten under Andie’s skin the way Chase does – and vice versa.

So when Andie and Chase find themselves forced to take a two-day road trip together, they are already dreading an inevitable all-out war. But as the trip progresses, and the undeniable friction that has always defined their relationship slowly begins to wear away their preconceived notions of each other, Andie and Chase discover they both have a lot to learn about life, courage, happiness, and the age-old battle between logic and love.

“You don’t see the world the way other people do. And when you let your guard down, the way you think, the way you say things… you make people look at things differently. You make people feel things.”

Emancipating Andie was exactly the kind of book i needed to read in order to realize that sometimes taking a decision-a risk it's not wrong.Sometimes doing something without thinking twice might be wrong, but sometimes you have to face the consequences and learn that it's ok to make mistakes.
This was a beautiful story about a girl who decided to play by the rules-always safe, always careful- because of something bad that happened to her when she was fourteen years old. That was until she met a boy.

Andie Weber has everything she needs.A good boyfriend,a good life,a good job...But what if those things aren''t enough? What if she doesn't realize that playing by the rules is not what she really needs?Well, those questions have answers, and you'll find them if you read the book.

The boy,the one who showed Andie that if she did something without thinking twice, something for her, something she wanted to do but never was brave enough to do,was not wrong, managed to capture my heart and make me swoon! His name?Chase McGuire.Yep,he was the kind of guy who knew exactly what to say at the right time, even if sometimes he acted like a jackass.Well,i ignored that part and i focussed on the good parts. He made me laugh,so that's all that matters .

“Don’t ever apologize for being you, Andie.” She opened her eyes and turned to him. He was looking at her, and there was such conviction and sincerity in his expression that Andie felt like she was going to break under the weight of it.”

Not everything was perfect.Nope, even how they met, that wasn't perfect.I guess the important thing is that they met ,but how things evolved from there..I guess i could say that they both were too stubborn and they had many things too learn from each other.Hmm.

Andie and Chase spent two days traveling together. At first it was awkward, but step by step everything started to change and it got better.I laughed out loud because how Andie reacted sometimes and the things Chase said to her.For me it was funny.Sometimes i smiled, sometimes i was confused.Sometimes i was speechless and sometimes i didn't know what to believe. It was perfect.

The sad part? The sad part was that Andie had a boyfriend. And the boyfriend was Chase's friend.I hated that part.Kind of messed up if you ask me,but what can i say..It was pretty good like this and made everything interesting.

“All I'm saying is,sometimes things happen and we don't see them clearly, either because we're not at the right point in our life,or we're too closely ivolved to understand. But just because we can't see the reason behind things doesn't mean there isn't one.”

Both,Andie and Chase, had they own demons. Both were trying to do what was best for them in their own way.Andie by being careful and Chase by doing exactly what he wanted.I liked how their relationship transformed in something beautiful. From nothing to everything.Without knowing they fell in love and in the end they did exactly what was best for both of them. And it was perfect.

I loved the story and the characters. It was amazing how everything happened from the beginning until the end.The characters were strong and i learned a few things from them. And i'm glad.
