Quiet seventeen-year-old Tess doesn’t relish the thought of a summertime job. She wants nothing more than to forget the past haunts of high school and have fun with her best friends before the dreaded Year Twelve begins.
To Tess, summer is when everything happens: riding bikes down to the lake, watching the fireworks at the Onslow Show and water bomb fights at the sweltering Sunday markets.
How did she let her friends talk her into working?
After first-shift disasters, rude, wealthy tourists and a taunting ex-boyfriend, Tess is convinced nothing good can come of working her summer away. However, Tess finds unlikely allies in a group of locals dubbed ‘The Onslow Boys’, who are old enough to drive cars, drink beer and not worry about curfews. Tess’s summer of working expands her world with a series of first times with new friends, forbidden love and heartbreaking chaos.
All with the one boy she has never been able to forget.
It will be a summer she will always remember.
Since i saw the cover-well,first it was the description and then the cover-i wanted to read the book so much. When i finally received it i did my happy dance and then i started reading it and forgot about the other books.
All i can say it was worth waiting and the description was perfect.
The truth is that i want more.I don't even remember what happened around me that because i was paying attention at what happened in the book.
C.J,you got my attention with your amazing story!
The Boys Of Summer is Tess's story.A girl who tried not to draw attention and lived in her best friend shadow ,but that changes in the moment the summer starts.
Ellie and Adam,Tess's friends, convinced her to work at the Onslow Hotel with them. That wasn't exactly what Tess wanted to do,but her friends managed to convince her. What she never thought was that that will be the best summer of her life.
Why?Well, let's say that there was a boy who got Tess's attention..
At the Onslow Hotel there were always a group of boys whom Ellie named "The Onslow Boys"-one of those boys is Toby Morrison.Exactly the boy Tess wanted to get close to.
It was really fun reading about how Tess reacted every time she was around Toby-or all the things she said.I laughed out loud every time the boys were trying to tease Tess.
Only a few books made me smile from the beginning until the end. This one was one of those.
I loved the story.Maybe i liked it because it reminded me about all the fun things you can do when it's summer-or maybe i liked it because of everything that happened when Tess and Ellie spend the time with the Onslow Boys.
Summer.Love.Boys.Fun.The definition of the perfect summer.
Tess and Toby weren't my only favorite characters.Even if i wanted i couldn't forget about Sean,Stan ,Ellie and Adam.If i could describe each of them i would, but i'm pretty sure i won't stop writing and i can't do that. All i can say is that they were the amazing and crazy.
Even if this is C.J's first book i have to admit that it was amazing. The way she wrote about Tess and her friends-they way she complicated everything and then she did what was right-made me wish i could write like that. But i can't ...but i'm glad i can read this kind of stories.
I don't think there was a book that made me laugh so much like this one.Between the boys jokes and Tess's fear of doing something stupid there were enough moments that made me laugh. And i loved every second.
I was glad that this book was written only in Tess's point of view, although i would have loved to know what Toby thought about her.Mostly that was because there were moments when Toby acted so weird and in those moments i really, really wanted to know what was going on in his mind.
What i didn't like?Well,i liked everything, but i have to admit that i would have loved if Adam didn't had to leave. That guywas really crazy and i liked him.He wasn't the only crazy person, but at least he was Tess's friend from the beginning and i wanted to read more about him.
Sometimes when you find the perfect book you forget about the ones you read before and all you want to do is give it more than 5 stars.Since i can't do that ,all i can do is tell you to read this book and enjoy it.
